About Me

Sarah Pachter is a 2006 cum laude graduate of the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While at the University of Miami, she sang in every choir available to women and danced with the Hurricanettes dance line, as part of the Band of the Hour. She was Vice President of Sigma Alpha Iota Women's Music Fraternity and also a member of Tau Beta Sigma, the honorary sorority for members of the college band. The Florida Vocal Association selected her for the Promising Music Educator Award. She is also the recipient of Sigma Alpha Iota Sword of Honor and College Honor Award. Sarah sang with several competitive female barbershop groups including the quartets Nothing But Treble and Sugarcanes and the GoldCoast Show Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International.

As a contestant in the Miss America Organization for four years, Sarah won the titles of Miss Florida Keys, Miss University of Miami, and Miss Palm Beach County, allowing her to compete for the title of Miss Florida three years in a row. Singing not only for the talent competition, but out in the community at appearances, Sarah performed musical theater, pop, and brought jazz to the stage with an audience favorite "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To". Through her personal platform of "Tell Someone About Cervical Cancer", Sarah teamed up with Planned Parenthood to bring education to young women about how they can prevent cervical cancer, while also raising money for the national platform Children's Miracle Network. She will always cherish her memories as a local titleholder and state competitor.

Sarah Pachter worked for two years as the Cantorial Assistant at Congregation B’nai Israel, where she sang at Shabbat and holiday services, directed the children's choir, taught in the Bar/Bat Mitzvah program, and assisted in all the musical activities of the temple.

Starting a new chapter, Sarah is now in her Masters in Non Profit Studies at Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona. She is engaged to Peter Freudenberger, also a graduate of the University of Miami Frost School of Music, who is continuing his studies at Arizona State University's Herberger College of the Arts with a Master of Music in Bass Trombone Performance.

Continuing with her music only part time now, Sarah is the Director of the Temple Chai Junior Choir at her new Phoenix congregation. She also tutors in the B'nai Mitzvah program and teaches third grade Judaics in the religious school.

Sarah and Peter will be married May 29, 2010 on the beach in Naples, Florida.
